Cryolipolysis, non-surgical fat cell reduction

Cryolipolysis uses controlled cooling to permanently reduce localised fat deposits. Without needles, surgery or downtime. Fat cells crystallise at temperatures that leave surrounding tissue unaffected.

Cryolipolisis Problem area

The concern

Some fat doesn't respond
to diet or exercise.

Localised fat deposits, abdomen, flanks, inner thighs, upper arms, back rolls, double chin, are often genetically determined. They persist regardless of overall weight loss because fat cell distribution is fixed from early adulthood.

Exercise reduces fat cell size. Cryolipolysis reduces fat cell count. That is the distinction. Once a fat cell is eliminated, it cannot return. A structural change, not a temporary one.

Treatment areas

Where it works
most effectively.

Each area requires a specific applicator size and cooling protocol. Multiple areas can be treated in the same session using dual applicators.

Abdomen & flanks

The most requested treatment area. Upper and lower abdomen treated separately. Flanks addressed with curved applicators for optimal contact.

Inner & outer thighs

Inner thigh fat is often resistant to exercise. Outer thigh deposits respond well to cryolipolysis with appropriate applicator positioning.

Upper arms & back

Upper arm and bra-line fat treated with smaller applicators. Back rolls addressed in sections, typically two sessions for full coverage.

Submental, double chin

A dedicated small applicator targets submental fat precisely. Results are visible from 6 weeks and continue improving to 3 months.

How it works

The science behind
controlled cooling.

Applicator placement

A gel pad protects the skin. The applicator draws tissue into a cooling chamber using gentle suction. Temperature drops to −11°C over the treatment cycle.

Selective crystallisation

Fat cells crystallise at temperatures that leave skin, nerves and muscle unaffected, a principle called cryolipolysis. Treated cells undergo apoptosis over the following weeks.

Natural elimination

The lymphatic system clears crystallised fat cells over 6–12 weeks. Full outcome visible at 3 months. Session duration: 35–60 min per area.

Questions

What patients
commonly ask.

What is cryolipolysis and how does it work?

Cryolipolysis is a non invasive treatment that reduces localized fat by controlled cooling. Fat cells are more sensitive to cold than surrounding tissue. When exposed to low temperatures, these fat cells break down and are gradually removed by the body over time, without damaging skin, nerves, or muscle.

Which body areas can be treated with cryolipolysis?

Common treatment areas include the abdomen, flanks, thighs, upper arms, submental area, and other localized fat pockets. Each area is assessed individually to ensure safe applicator placement and predictable contour improvement.

When will results become visible after cryolipolysis?

Results develop gradually. Initial changes may be noticed after a few weeks, with continued improvement over two to three months as the body processes treated fat cells. The outcome is progressive rather than immediate.

Who is a suitable candidate for cryolipolysis?

Cryolipolysis is suitable for patients with stable body weight who want to reduce specific fat deposits that do not respond to diet or exercise. It is not a weight loss treatment and is not intended for obesity. A medical consultation determines whether the fat layer and skin condition are appropriate.

How many cryolipolysis sessions are usually needed?

The number of sessions depends on the treatment area, fat thickness, and desired outcome. Some patients see sufficient improvement after one session, while others benefit from a second session. This is determined during the consultation and reviewed during follow up.

Is there downtime or recovery after cryolipolysis?

Cryolipolysis does not require downtime. Temporary redness, firmness, or numbness in the treated area can occur but usually resolves on its own. Most patients return to normal activities immediately after treatment.
